Rhododendron Tsariense


Gorgeous pinky white flowers with crimson spotting in April. A rare plant with superb foliage that has dense ruffeled hair on the lower leaf surface and sometimes on the upper surface. A lovely compact slow growing plant that needs good drainage to perform well. Avoid using fertilizer with this plant. Height 40-50cm in 10 years.



Plant in moist acidic well drained soil in a sheltered site. Full sun / partial shade, Hardy.


General Rhododendron Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot, if the Rhododendron is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Rhododendron and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Rhododendron is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
