Rhododendron Hybrid Catawbiense Album

 

Large, showy clusters, or trusses, of tubular, broad bell-shaped flowers that are pink in bud and open to white with green spotted throats. This medium-sized, dense, broadleaf evergreen shrub has large, glossy, dark green leaves that can suffer from sun and wind damage if left too exposed in the winter months. Height 1.5m - 1.8m, Width 1.8m - 2.4m

 

Plant in moist acidic well drained soil. Partial shade, Hardy. Provide a winter mulch for added protection.

 

General Rhododendron Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot, if the Rhododendron is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Rhododendron and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Rhododendron is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
