Rhododendron Hybrid Black Magic

 

Rhododendron Hybrid Black Magic. A hybrid cross between two of the longest and shortest rhododendron names, Jean Marie de Montague' x 'Leo'. Having beautifully intense black-red flowers and lush dark foliage. It was introduced by Greer of the United States in 1982. highly attractive specimen ideal for border plantings.

 

Plant in moist acidic well drained soil. Full sun / Partial shade, hardy. Provide a deep winter mulch for added protection.

 

General Rhododendron Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot, if the Rhododendron is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Rhododendron and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Rhododendron is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
