Hybrid Rhododendron Bernstein


Abundant flowering and has wide, open bright, orange-yellow flowers with orange-red markings in which the edges are pink and curled. They appear in mid-May to early June. The shrub can grow to be up to 4 m high in old age and is perfect for individual or group plantings.



Plant in moist acidic well drained soil. Partial shade, Hardy. Provide a winter mulch for added protection.


General Rhododendron Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot, if the Rhododendron is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Rhododendron and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Rhododendron is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
