Rhododendron Dwarf Swift


A charming dwarf rhododendron with greenish yellow flowers,spotted red in the throat and striped red on the reverse in trusses of 3. It is very free flowering in early May. We love it's lovely healthy foliage and habit. Height 40-60cm in 10 years. One of the 'bird' series of dwarf hybrids bred at Glendoick in Scotland.


Plant in moist acidic well drained soil. Partial shade, Hardy. Provide a winter mulch for added protection.


General Rhododendron Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot, if the Rhododendron is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Rhododendron and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Rhododendron is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
