Carex Elata Aurea

 

Semi-evergreen, clump-forming perennial with linear, arching, yellow leaves narrowly edged with green. Brown male flower spikes are borne above green female spikes in late spring and early summer. Uses include Cottage/Informal, Beds and borders, Low Maintenance, Waterside, Containers, Foliage only. Will reach a height of 0.7m and a spread of 0.5m after 2-5 years.

 

 

Plant in fertile, moist soil, for example, as a marginal at the edge of a pond.

 

General Ornamental Grass Planting care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding some planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the area thoroughly.
  • Water regular until established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
