Alstroemeria Indian Summer

 

Peruvian lily, an upright decidious, clump-forming, tuberous perennial with lance-shaped, bronze- to purple-flushed, dark green leaves and, from early summer to mid-autumn, open clusters of funnel-shaped, red-marked, yellow-orange flowers with brown flecks on the inner petals. height, 0.75m, Spread of 0.6m after 2-5 years.

 

 

Plant tubers 20cm deep in late summer or autumn in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.

 

General Herbaceous & Perennial Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding some planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the area thoroughly.
  • Water regular until established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
