Allium Christorphii

 

Star of Persia, bulbous perennial, with strap-shaped, grey-green leaves. Star-shaped, rosy-violet flowers are borne in spherical heads in early summer which are followed by attractive seed-heads. Recommended uses include Architectural, Cottage/Informal, Flower Arranging, Beds and borders, Gravel. Will reach a height of 0.6m and a spread of 0.6m after 2-5 years.

 

Grow in fertile, but well-drained soil. Add grit to heavy soils to improve drainage.

 

General Herbaceous & Perennial Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding some planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the area thoroughly.
  • Water regular until established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
