Ajuga Black Scallop

 

Bugleweed, Makes a superb evergreen groundcover. Plants quickly form a low carpet of rounded, glossy leaves, purple-black in colour with a crinkly or scalloped texture. Short spikes of deep blue flowers appear in mid to late spring. Vigorous habit. Direct sun will bring out the best colour in the leaves. Will perform well in tubs or mixed containers. Height 10-15 cm Spread 30-45 cm.

 

Plant in fertile well drained soil. Full sun, Hardy.

 

General Herbaceous & Perennial Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding some planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the area thoroughly.
  • Water regular until established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
