Thymus Vulgaris

 

Common thyme, Pot-herb thyme, Garden thyme. Low bushy shrub with small, aromatic, evergreen foliage, flowering in early summer. beds and borders, Bees, Between paving stones, City, Cottage/Informal, Edging, Flavouring food and drinks, Foliage only, Gravel, Ground Cover, Mediterranean, Rock, Wildlife. Will reach a height of 0.5m and a spread of 0.5m after 5-10 years.

 

Grow in moist, free-draining soil in full sun.

 

General Herb Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if the Herb is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Herb and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Herb is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
