Tarragon French


Artemisia dracunculus French, Biting dragon, Dragon plant, Estragon, French tarragon , Tarragon, True tarragon, Kitchen tarragon. Has narrowly lance-shaped, aromatic leaves and small, pale-yellow flowerheads in late summer. Cottage/Informal, Drying, Beds and borders, Low Maintenance, Foliage only. Will reach a height of 1m and a spread of 0.5m after 2-5 years.


Plant in a well-drained soil in full sun.


General Herb Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if the Herb is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Herb and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Herb is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
