Mint Apple

 

Mentha suaveolens, Apple mint, Woolly mint, Mentha rotundifolia, Round-leaved mint. Spreading perennial herb, with apple scented leaves, and tall stems carrying light lilac flowers in summer. Will reach a height of 0.5m and a spread of 0.3m after 2-5 years.

 

 

Grow in any moist soil in sun or partial shade. It has invasive roots, so site carefully or restrict root run by planting it in a pot within the ground.

 

General Herb Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if the Herb is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Herb and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Herb is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
