Galium Odoratum


Asperula odorata, Sweet woodruff, Rockweed, Sweet grass, Woodruff, Hay plant, Kiss-me-quick, Mugwet. Vigorous mat-forming perennial with whorls of bright green, lance-shaped leaves and clusters of small white, starry flowers from late spring. Will reach a height of 0.5m and a spread of 1.5m after 5-10 years.



Plant in any moist but well-drained soil in part shade. Strong sun will scorch the leaves. May be invasive.


General Herb Planting and care

  • Water the pot thoroughly and allow to drain fully.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base. Adding a bucketful of planting compost.
  • Remove the pot gently, if the Herb is well rooted cut off the pot.
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in, water the Herb and area thoroughly
  • Water regular until Herb is established.
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring.
