Vitis Vroege Van Der Laan


Vigorous, woody, deciduous vine with lobed, toothed, mid-green leaves turning golden-yellow in autumn, and dense panicles of fragrant, insignificant, pale green flowers in early summer followed by clusters of edible, juicy, sweet, pale green fruit ready to harvest in late summer or early autumn. Reaching a height of 8m and a spread of 3m after 10-20 years.


Grow in deep, moist but well-drained loam in a sheltered, sunny or partially shaded site. Prefers neutral to slightly acid soil but will tolerate a wide range of conditions. Protect new growth from frost.


General Climber Planting and care

  • Water the Climber thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Climber is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Climber and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
