Solanum Crispum Glasnevin


Solanum Crispum Glasnevin, Chilean Potato Tree. A scrambling climber with dark green leaves. Fragrant clusters of deep purple-blue flowers from summer to autumn, followed by yellowish white fruits. Ideal for use on a warm wall. Max Height 6m. Flowers June to August. Fruits September. Harmful if eaten.

Plant in moist fertile well drained soil. Full sun, Frost hardy.


General Climber Planting and care

  • Water the Climber thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Climber is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Climber and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
