Chaenomeles Pink Lady

 

Chaenomeles Pink Lady, Flowering quince, Japanese quince, japonica. A fast growing deciduous spreading thorny shrub with mid-green glossy leaves. Clusters of cup-shaped, dark pink flowers in spring, followed by green edible fruits ripening to yellow. An excellent border specimen also used as a wall climber. Max Height 1.5m. Max Spread 2m. Flowers April to May. Fruits August.

 

 

Plant in fertile well drained soil. Full Sun / Partial Shade. Hardy.

 

General Climber Planting and care

  • Water the Climber thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Climber is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Climber and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
