Chaenomeles speciosa 'Geisha Girl'


Chaenomeles speciosa Geisha, Flowering quince, Japanese quince, japonica. A slow growing, spreading, deciduous, thorny shrub with rounded dark-green glossy leaves. Peach flowers in small clusters are borne in spring, followed by green yellow edible fruits. Max Height 1.4m. Max Spread 1.2m. Ideal for use in a a border or climbing wall. Flowers April to May. Fruits August.



Plant in fertile well drained soil. Full sun / partial shade, Hardy.


General Climber Planting and care

  • Water the Climber thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Climber is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Climber and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
