Pleioblastus Variegatus


Pleioblastus Variegatus, Bamboo. An attractive evergreen plant with lance shaped white and green coloured variegated leaves and slender canes. Makes an excellent specimen or border bamboo. with a Max Height of 2.5m and a Max Spread of 1m.



Plant in moist well drained soil in a sheltered site. Full sun / partial shade, Hardy.


General Bamboo Planting and care

  • Water the Bamboo thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Bamboo is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Bamboo and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
