Fargesia Nitida Trifina

 

Chinese fountain bamboo, dense, clump-forming, slow-growing, evergreen bamboo with erect canes, green when young and turning black when mature and narrowly lance-shaped, mid-green leaves.  Will reach a height of 3m and a spread of 1m after 20-50 years.

 

Prefers fertile, moist soil in full sun or partial shade, sheltered from cold, drying winds. Tolerates shade. A non-invasive cultivar.

 

General Bamboo Planting and care

  • Water the Bamboo thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Bamboo is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Bamboo and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
