Viola Green Goddess


Compact, mound-forming, semi-evergreen perennial with heart-shaped, scalloped, dark green leaves. From spring into autumn, upright stems bearing yellow-green flowers with veined, yellow centres. Uses include garden edging, cottage/Informal, containers, coastal, city, beds and borders, underplanting. Height 0.2m, Spread of 0.25m after 2-5 years.


Prefers cool, protected, partial shade, especially in summer months with moist, but free draining soil or compost.


General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
