Scutellaria Texas Rose

 

This is a versatile little number - compact grey-green mounds of foliage become covered in small pinky-purple flowers in July through to Autumn. Principally for use in the garden as an alpine, but also possible for use in summer plantings. Height x Spread: 20 x 35 cm.

 

 

Prefers full sun, or partial shade with moist or free-draining soil or compost.

 

General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
