Saxifraga Limegreen


Low, cushion- to mound-forming, evergreen perennial with flat sprays of needle-like, bright green leaves an, in spring, short stems bearing upward-facing, cup-shaped, white to pale green flowers with bright green centres. Will reach a height of 0.15m and a spread of 0.3m after 5-10 years.


Grow in moderately fertile, consistently moist but very well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in partial shade. Prefers cool, moist summers.


General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
