Dianthus Scented Candy Floss


Compact, cushion-forming, evergreen perennial with linear, grey-green leaves and, in late spring and throughout summer, stiff, erect stems bearing clove-scented, double, frilled pale pink flowers with darker pink centres. Will reach a height of 0.25m and a spread of 0.3m after 2-5 years.



Grow in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. Enrich soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost and apply a balanced fertiliser each spring.


General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
