Dianthus deltoides Leuchtfunk


Low, mat-forming evergreen perennial with tufts of linear, dark green foliage. In summer, it is covered with flat, deep red flowers. Situations include Beds and borders, City, Cottage/Informal, Gravel, Ground Cover, Low Maintenance. Wwill reach a height of 0.15m and a spread of 0.3m after 1-2 years.


Plant in free-draining soil in a sunny position. Good for ground cover.


General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
