Aubretia Swan Red

 

Compact evergreen, mound-forming plant with variegate foliage with purple-red flowers. Ideal for rockeries, gravel gardens, walls and containers. This is a hardy plant which should survive normal winter conditions outside, especially if protected from the hardest frosts. Height x Spread: 10 x 40 cm

 

 

Prefers full sun, or partial shade with free-draining soil or compost. Trim after flowering to maintain vigour.

 

General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
