Aubrieta Audrey Blue Shades

 

Compact, mat-forming, evergreen perennial with small, ovate to oblong, hairy, sometimes toothed, grey-green leaves and short racemes of four-petalled, deep purple-blue flowers in spring. Will reach a height of 0.1m and a spread of 0.4m after 5-10 years.

 

Moist but well-drained, Chalky, Loamy and Sandy soil, Full Sun

 

General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
