Armeria maritima Armada Rose

 

Common Thrift. Bright rose pink, ball-shaped flower clusters will add a pop of color to your landscape. Blooms from mid spring to early summer. The blossoms appear on 3-4 inch leafless stalks that grow above a compact mound of dark green, evergreen, grassy foliage. Able to thrive in salty soil so it is perfect for planting along sidewalks and driveways that have been salted in the winter months. Height: 6 inches to 8 inches Width: 8 inches to 1 foot.

 

Plant in well drained soil, Full sun also tolerates salty soil.

 

General Alpine Planting and care

  • Water the Alpine thoroughly and allow to drain fully
  • If the Alpine is being planted in a lawn remove a circle of turf
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot being planted and fork over the base Adding a bucketful of planting compost
  • Remove the pot gently, if the tree is well rooted cut off the pot
  • Ensure that the top of the Root ball is level with the surrounding soil
  • Replace the remaining soil and heel in well
  • Water the Alpine and area thoroughly, then again at least once a week during the first growing season
  • Apply some general fertiliser every spring
